The Week in Comics for 9/30/09…

This was a slow week in the world of comics... BUY ‘EM… WOLVERINE: WEAPON X #5 - It took a little too long for this series to “ramp up” to speed. Sure there was action and Wolvie calling people “bub,” but it just felt forced. Once the fourth issue hit the stands, everything clicked. Someone has leaked the Weapon X files to a corporate source that has used them to create a group of knockoff Wolverines to hire out as security and plans on getting a U.S. government contract to supply them wit...

Comic Reviews For The Week of 9/23

MAKE SURE THESE ARE ON YOUR PULL LIST… HALO: HELLJUMPER #3 - I wish the last two HALO limited series had been this good. Peter David is writing a great story that not only has you guessing what the Convenat are up to, but the interactions between the ODSTs make me long for a decent G.I. Joe comic. Eric Nguyen’s art is good, but would be really great if he drew some backgrounds. If you’ve already bought the new HALO: ODST game or looking for something to tide you over, check this series out. ...

Ghost Rider Sequel in the Works Along With Reboots of Most Existing Marvel Franchises…

Nicolas Cage loves comics. It’s no secret. Ghost Rider was his first real foray into the world of comic movies and most people gave it a fail. But with Disney’s buy of Marvel, everybody is Hollywood is scrambling to either hold onto their Marvel movie rights or grab their ankles and wait for Disney to drill the box office. Columbia Pictures has been a little cool to doing a Ghost Rider sequel, even with Nick Cage talking it up in the media. Now they are planning to get a follow-up movie on the f...

Rob Liefeld Confirms Ryan Reynolds Still Onboard for Deadpool Movie Despite Green Lantern Role

For those who don’t know, Rob Liefeld still gets royalties from Marvel for the use of the Deadpool and Cable characters - so I imagine he’s excited that there is a Deadpool solo movie on the horizon. Liefeld confirmed via his Twitter account that Reynolds is still onboard to star as the Merc with a Mouth. After a meeting with “all things X” producer Lauren Shuler Donner, Liefeld posted the following: "Great Deadpool movie meeting! Lauren Shuler-Donner and her team are headed in the right dir...

Review & Gameplay of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

Yes, I did manage to get an advanced preview of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 before the street release date. One of the perks of being media. We started Sunday at around 1pm (desperately trying to play and keep an eye on the football games…) and played until we beat the game at around 2am. Like the previous game, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is a seriously fun game. The characters moved like you expect them to from reading the comics and the powers of each one is dead on. Activision/Vicario...

Weekly Comics Review for August 19

Sorry I’m a few days late on this week’s comic review, I’ve been working on ComicCenter all this week. Here’s what I’m buying or recommending for recycling this week: BUY IT! DEADPOOL: SUICIDE KINGS #5 - I really shouldn’t be suggesting that anyone buy this since I hate the multi-titles for one character; but it’s just too d@mn funny. Writers Mike Benson & Adam Glass aren’t better than regular series writer Daniel Way, but they definitely have a hilarious grasp on Deadpool. Guest-stars...
