Game of Thrones Might Be HBO’s Next Hit Series

HBO has just ok’d a pilot for Game of Thrones, the first book in George R.R. Martin series Song of Ice and Fire. I cannot wait for this series. This is hands down my favorite fantasy series out there. But, there are so many main roles in this book that I’m a little worried about the budget for this one. It’s such a good story and the characters are so memorable… especialy the ones you love to hate. This could be a huge cash cow for HBO. The novel is being adapted for TV by David Benioff (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Troy) and is set to star Sean Bean, Thomas McCarthy, Joseph Mawle and future star of the Conan reboot – Jason Momoa. With an all-star British cast, it’s tough for me to see this one not being a hit. Even the effects will be easy to do with the success of other shows like Legend of the Seeker for Disney and Merlin on BBC.

I am so geeking out right now…

I am excited about this one. I might have to actually get the HBO channel to watch this series because if their ever was a Intense, complicated and Interesting Fantasy story that should be told an hour at a time it Song of Ice and Fire. I loved the novels and see where this would make a hell of a series and if they do a real good job I will be buying this for my DVD collection.
