Could Push Be Coming To TV?

Summit Entertainment is currently working with E1 Entertainment to adapt the movie Push into a TV series. Screenwriter David Hayter (X2, Scorpion King, X-Men, Watchmen) is currently working on a pilot for the series with his Dark Hero production company. Hayter also voices Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid video games series. Push, a comic inspired movie that was released last year, was directed by Paul McGuigan and starred Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning. It’s a pretty good bet that neither star would be back for the series, but with the story rich world that both the movie and comic introduced, it’ll be easy to focus on new characters hunted by the company to use. I’m just not so sure about Summit being involved post-Twilight success. Are the male stars going to be sparkly and have instant shirt removal as a power? I also believe that it’s this mindset that has Summit looking to buy the Miramax name and library. The Summit name is going to be synonymous with the Twilight franchise for the foreseeable future and they will need another established name to released movies under to be taken seriously by the other two-thirds of the world that doesn’t like Twilight. I liked Push, but one of the problems I had with the movie was that it felt like it belonged on TV… so this might be a good movie for the property. With the success of shows like Smallville, Supernatural and Spartacus, Push has the potential to become “X-Men-lite” for the TV.

What do you think? Would Push be something you set your DVR for or do you have better things to watch?
