Now that the Green Lantern movie as officially been re-greenlit to shoot here in the U.S., casting and pre-production is in full swing. Sherlock Holmes and Stardust alum, Mark Strong, has been signed to play the mentor/villain to Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan in the upcoming movie. Director Martin Campbell confirmed the news with MTV’s Splash Page and went on to confirm actress Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) had reached an agreement to appear as Hal’s girlfriend Carol Ferris as well. Campbell went on to say that he plans to include Kilowog and Tomar-Re in the movie as well and wants to try to stay as true to the current Green Lantern origin as he can, mentioning that Abin-Sur will also be in the movie. The movie is scheduled to begin shooting this March for a June 17, 2011 release.
