Since Spider-Man 4 has been put into production reverse to hire a new director and cast, Marvel Studios and Diesny wasted no time in announcing that they would be moving up the Thor movie’s release date two weeks to May 6, 2011. Director Kenneth Branagh has a start date of this month to begin principle filming. Thor is set to star some of Hollywood’s brightest: Natalie Portman (Star Wars Prequels) as Jane Foster, Chris Hemsworth (Kirk’s father in Star Trek) as Thor, Anthony Hopkins (do I really have to list a movie here…?) as Thor’s father Odin, Samuel L. Jackson (ditto) as Nick Fury, Idris Elba (Mumbles in RocknRolla) as Heimdall, Stuart Townsend (Dorian Grey in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) as Fandral, Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone) as Volstagg (I’m hoping this one is reported wrong… he’d be better suited for Hogun the Grimm), Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Rene Russo (Yours, Mine & Ours) as Thor’s mom Frigga, Justin Chatwin (Goku in Dragonball Evolution) as Balder and Jaimie Alexander (Kyle XY) as Sif. I was looking forward to this movie simply because the Captain America movie was next on the Marvel Studios agenda, but after seeing this cast – Thor is going to be amazing.

I am a huge THOR fan and I am geeking for this movie pretty bad. Great casting though I don’t know about Justin Chatwin as Balder. Just doesn’t seem to be a good fit but hey we might be surprised. Oh! I wonder if we get to see Donald Blake or Eric Masterson in this movie. I am excited
__On a side note I used to really like the cover art of Olivier Coipel especially on THOR.
