G.I. Joe Movie Sequel Moving Forward

Word is that Paramount has greenlit the sequel to G.I. Joe and has even hired a screenwriter. No word yet who they’ve tapped to write or whether directer Steven Sommers will be back. I’ve had a lot of people tell me that they liked this movie or that there were a lot of good things in it. Guys, I can find good things in the way Hitler ran Germany, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t put a bulltet in his brain if given the time-travelling chance. This movie, to quote good Morning Vietnam, sucked the sweat off a dead cow’s balls. Paramount, let me help a bit… keep Snake-Eyes, Duke will be a given, Hawk and then bring in all new Joes (Beachhead, Shipwreck, Flint, etc…). Please, please please do not bring back Scarlett or Ripcord – at the very least not Ripcord. Focus more on the actual soldiers and their skill not their equipment from 50 years in the future. That’s what made the Joes. Skill and teamwork. The really sad thing is this: I almost walked out of the first movie and I will still watch the sequel. What can I say? I like watch auto racing for the wrecks too…
