The rumors have really started to fly about who will play Hawkeye in the upcoming Avengers movie. Not only that, but the rumor-mill has said that Hawkeye will get the Nick Fury treatment in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker) won’t play Captain America as previous rumors suggested, but thinks Hawkeye would be “interesting.” In an interview with Empire Online, Renner had this to say:
“I don’t know if I’d be right for Captain America,” he said. “I met with the Marvel guys, actually, but we didn’t talk about Captain America. But one of the writers, Zak Penn, we’ve become friends over time and he was thinking maybe Hawkeye could be interesting. He sounds like an interesting character.”
Sounds to me that he might know more than he’s letting on. Between his roles in SWAT and Hurt Locker, playing Hawkeye would be easy for Renner. Cocky? Check. Hates authority? Check. Can back up everything coming out of his mouth? Check. Just the fact that Marvel is planning for Hawkeye to be in the Avengers is good enough for me. Let’s see, that makes it Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Hulk (Ed Norton), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Nick Fury (Sam Jackson), Hawkeye and Captain America. And that’s only the tip if we consider the rumors of Ant-Man, The Wasp and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Seems like it’ll be a money-maker if a retarded monkey was directing. As long as Marvel Studios has control…
Call me the Doubting Thomas here but I am not sure if HawkEye will me done with realism. If they can pull that one off then I am going to take my hat off to Marvel Studios
