Osborn’s Dark X-Men Team Faces Off With The Long Lost Nate Grey In November

Dark X-Men PreviewEven after the defection of Emma Frost, Namor, Cloak and Dagger – Osborn has kept HIS team of X-Men together. Comprised of Dark Beast (serial killer mad scientist), Mimic (manic-depressive), Weapon Omega (a manic power-holic) and the always unpredictable Mystique; Osborn’s team of X-Men has the job of publically stomping out mutant threats (those who Osborn considers threats…) on American soil while they smile for the cameras. But no one could have predicted the return of Nate Grey. After dispersing himself into the minds of the world’s inhabitants, the other refugee from the Age of Apocalypse has pulled himself back together and doesn’t like the new world order. Ever the rebel, Nate sees Osborn as the perfect place to start changing things. Series writer Paul Cornell has decidedly increased the power levels of Grey, who he now describes as “swashbuckling shaman” during his interview with Marvel.com. Cornell also went on to say:

“I like his relative innocence and enthusiasm,” he explains.  “I’m not saying he’s at all naive, just that he very much believes in the hero ethic, and putting that up against the cynicism of Osborn and his cronies is very interesting. Nate’s also got the sheer power to back up his beliefs.”

I don’t know if bringing Nate Grey back is the best idea I’ve heard… I’m of the opinion that him, Dark Beast and Sugarman all need to go the way of the rest of the Age of Apocalypse characters and die with their storyline. That being said, it might be fun to see him F with Osborn and the Dark X-Men for a few issues…

Dark X-Men ships in November and also features art by Leonard Kirk (Supergirl).
