Venom To Be The Good-Guy In Solo Movie?

Venom MovieWell, thankfully the proposed Venom solo movie being written and possibly directed by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit) will be starting from scratch with no holdovers from Spider-Man 3. That includes Topher Grace (but say what you want – I think Topher would have been better as Peter Parker than “Arthouse Tobey”…). According to Variety, Venom will become an anti-hero a la his ‘90’s mini-series, Lethal Protector. The mini-series had Eddie Brock moving to San Francisco where he winds up protecting a group of homeless people from criminals (what would they steal? Sorry…). This crappy mini-series was the basis for the second worse Spider-Man storyline to come out of the ‘90’s – The Symbiote Crisis; which was the creation of Carnage (not bad), Shriek, Toxin, Scream, Hybrid and other cheap villain clones trying to cash in on Venom’s popularity. While we won’t see Spider-Man in this movie, I do hope we’ll see more than Venom knocking some criminals around. This is where a Carnage origin would be cool and then have him appearing either Spider-Man 5 or 6 with the new Venom.
