For those who don’t know, Rob Liefeld still gets royalties from Marvel for the use of the Deadpool and Cable characters – so I imagine he’s excited that there is a Deadpool solo movie on the horizon. Liefeld confirmed via his Twitter account that Reynolds is still onboard to star as the Merc with a Mouth. After a meeting with “all things X” producer Lauren Shuler Donner, Liefeld posted the following:

• “Great Deadpool movie meeting! Lauren Shuler-Donner and her team are headed in the right direction!”

His excitement continued here:

• “Deadpool movie checklist- DP in costume-check! Breaking 4th wall-check! Loads of killing-double check!”

I can’t usually say this about Rob Liefeld news, but I’m glad that Shuler-Donner has realized that mistakes that were made in the Wolverine movie and is thankfully moving the right direction. Liefeld potentially has a lot of future cash riding on this, so it’s in his best interest to make sure that the fanboys are happy. From his Twitter post, it looks like that he’s covered everything I hated about Deadpool in the movie.
