Don’t Hold Your Breath for a He-Man Movie…

He-Man & The Masters of the Universe

I was pretty leery of this to begin with given the epic fail live-action movie from the ’80′s. Variety is reporting that Mattel and Warner Bros are parting company on the proposed He-Man & The Masters of the Universe movie. Joel Silver was originally attached to produce and John Stevenson (Kung-Fu Panda) set to direct. The speculation is that Stevenson will stay with the project, but Joel Silver is exclusive with Warner. Seems that Warner Bros. is going to start heavily mining the DC stable of characters rather than deal with license holders like Mattel. I’m really not upset about this and think that the property is better off dead, CGI Eternia or not. The new cartoon series from a few years ago was good enough for me. I’d rather see a Thundercats movie. What do you say?
