I’m just as excited as anyone who lived through the ‘80’s to see live-action versions of my favorite cartoons (Transformers). I even ok with making movies out of TV show from the era (the upcoming A-Team); but please, leave good movies alone. Not only have they begun casting for the redo of the classic Red Dawn, but a remake of Teen Wolf is rumored to be in pre-production. Red Dawn was a great ‘80’s movie because it was released while the Cold War was still in full swing and the premise was actually plausible to American citizens at the time. Plus, you had some members of the “Brat Pack” as part of the ensemble cast. Now, now they’re redoing Teen Wolf?!? One of the best Michael J. Fox movies ever and Hollywood is poised to screw it up. In this era of Reality TV, all originality has been replaced by what can be done for the least amount of money and what the current 30-somethings liked in their youth. If you can’t think of something new, hire someone that can. The redo of Star Trek is worlds apart because it was the only way to keep the franchise going. As far as I’m concerned, the people who come up with “ideas” like redoing Teen Wolf, The Neverending Story, Red Dawn, etc.; can all go back to cable channels like MTV and let us keep our memories.
