Once again, Marvel Studios is poised to make the rest of Hollywood look stupid. This means you 20th Century Fox (Wolverine anyone?). Not only have they hired true Thespian, Kenneth Branagh, to direct its next superhero franchise, Thor; but they have also landed (IMHO) a great Thor and Loki. Star Trek’s Chris Hemsworth is inked to wield Mjolnir (the name of Thor’s hammer for those not so geeky…). I don’t know much about Hemsworth and have only seen him in Star Trek, but his portrayal of Cmdr. George Kirk should have been enough to get him any role he wanted. I almost want a prequel just to focus on him.
Another relatively unknown actor, Tom Hiddleston, has been tapped to play Thor’s dreaded adoptive brother, Loki. Apparently, Hiddleston and Branagh co-starred in a BBC mini-series together.
If the Thor movie has even half of Iron Man’s coolness factor, it’ll be a hit. Now Marvel Studios jsut needs to force Fox’s hand to get back the movie rights to the X-Men…
