I had heard a while back that they were making this movie and I didn’t know whether to be excited or scared. I actually love watching the Avatar cartoon on NickToons. The creators of the series have done a great job growing the characters and interweaving a story more complex than a cartoon should be. I was kinda hoping that the writer’s strike last year had killed this one.
Next I hear that M. Night Shyamalan is attached to direct and I REALLLLY hoped this one would get derailed. He hasn’t had a real hit since he made everyone see dead people in Sixth Sense (which was so incredibly transparent, I ruined the movie for a roomful of people on opening night – without having seen it! But, that’s another story…).It seems that M. Night Shyamalan is seeing white people now (thank you Wayans brothers…),having cast a round-eye kid in the lead role of Ang. I’m pretty sure there are some good Asian-American child actors in Hollywood that deserved first crack.
This is going to be as big of a slap in the face as Dragonball was to its fans.
