Astonishing X-Men

astonishing_xmen

The Astonishing X-Men book from Marvel is a great read if you can get past the slightly out of continuity storylines and the constant lateness of the title. I can’t blame Warren Ellis too much. Marvel let Joss Weadon do whatever he wanted to do. Yes, thank you Joss for bringing back Colossus. It was a mistake killing him (I’m talkin’ to you Bob Harras!) and he, along with Nightcrawler, is the conscience of the team. And I’m glad that Ellis brought back Storm, much like Colossus, she is an X-Men staple and needs to be involved on the team and not playing the good wife in Black Panther.

The art is great looking, but a tad dark. Simone Bianchi artwork was more suited to Wolverine or just strictly covers (again with the lateness…).

The current story is intriguing, but I would rather read Warren Ellis writing Transmetropolitan or The Boys.
